About Dr. Pin Chieh Wu (吳品頡)
Dr. Wu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Photonics at National Cheng Kung University since February 2019. He is also a Visiting Associate in the Department of Applied Physics and Materials Science at California Institute of Technology (Caltech). In January 2015, Dr Wu completed his Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics at National Taiwan University under the guidance of Prof. Din Ping Tsai. Subsequently, he joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and worked on microfluidic metamaterials and metasurfaces for the development of dynamic wavefront control. While at NTU, he also gained experience on quantum optics and on-chip waveguides for quantum computation and communications.
Thereafter, in April 2016, he joined Prof. Din Ping Tsai’s group at Academia Sinica as a Postdoctoral Researcher. During this period, he was actively involved in innovating the design principle for broadband achromatic metalens, introducing aluminum plasmonics for achieving a versatile polarization generator at visible light, toroidal metamaterials, etc.
In June 2017, He joined California Institute of Technology (Caltech) under Prof. Harry Atwater’s group. His research aimed at developing flat optical components using dynamic metasurfaces with active materials such as transparent conductive oxide (TCO) and III-V quantum well structures.

Up to now, he has published more than 40 journal papers on Nano Letters, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, ACS Nano, Laser and Photonics Reviewers, ACS Photonics, Advanced Optical Materials, etc. as the first and co-author. He is also an invited reviewer of several scientific journal such as Science, Nature Communications, Optics, ACS Nano, ACS Photonics, Laser and Photonics Reviewers, Light: Science & Applications, Optics Express, Advanced Optical Materials, Applied Physics Express, etc.
